San Francisco, CA Posted 11/1/11

Background:
Tesser, an award-winning, San Francisco-based brand strategy and design firm, is looking to add two experienced Senior Designers to its team. We are a tight-knit, hard-working agency with exciting national-level brand imaging projects specifically focused in consumer goods and restaurant/retail design. We work for national and global blue-chip clients, like Wendy’s, Chili’s, Ben & Jerry’s, Musco Family Olive Company and KFC

Responsibilities:
As a Senior Environmental Designer at Tesser, you will work under the guidance of the Chief Creative Officer and Creative Director to develop and implement the creative vision for each of your primary assignments. You’ll develop and refine concepts, present recommendations to clients, and ensure successful creative design from concept through fabrication or construction. This is a “roll-up-your-sleeves” design conception and execution position. In addition to initiating, refining, and substantiating design concepts, you’ll create error-free Design Intent Drawing packages to document the program, assist clients during the build-out of prototypical store environments and work with multiple types of vendors to solve production and construction challenges.

As a Senior Graphic Designer at Tesser, you will work under the guidance of the Creative Director and Art Director to develop and implement the creative vision for each of your primary assignments. You’ll develop and refine concepts, present recommendations to clients, and ensure successful creative design through printing or fabrication. On top of initiating, refining, and substantiating design concepts, you’ll supervise and ensure the execution of error-free mechanical artwork, develop and coordinate design standards guidelines (e.g., exhibits, text), prepare prototypes and designs for client presentations, and work with multiple types of vendors to solve design and production challenges.

Requirements:
You’re an experienced designer with an extensive background designing for large, national clients, preferably some national restaurant chains. You have played a senior role on a design team at a leading brand agency and are a highly-creative person. You have experience developing comprehensive brand identity programs and consumer packaging AND/OR you have experience in retail design and store architecture, covering everything from ideation to the creation of design-intent drawings. You are comfortable using a variety of design programs for color rendering or three dimensional sketching, from Photoshop to Illustrator to potentially 3D architectural modeling software (preferably VectorWorks). You like to work collaboratively on complex assignments, and are a hands-on designer who demonstrates sensitivity to priorities and project schedules regarding tight deadlines. You have a degree in design (environmental, graphic, etc.).
