We are looking for a passionate Senior Designer to join our creative team. You will have high standards for magazine design and enthusiasm for innovative, creative storytelling solutions. You will have creative vision, the ability to generate original concepts, a high level of design sophistication, a keen eye for photography, and exceptional typesetting skills. You will assist the Creative Director with the evolution of the magazine and overall brand, will push to keep Dwell in the forefront of an ever-changing marketplace, and will thrive in a multi-disciplined, collaborative team environment which where balances hard work and drive are balanced with humor and fun.

Responsibilities:
- You will work closely with the Creative Director to conceptualize and plan for 
design development, in print and digital forms, and cohesion of design language across all media. 
- You will work with the Creative Director and other team members to establish 
overall design themes for each issue, particularly as related to the design of features.
- You will collaborate with photo and editorial teams on the direction for all 
assigned stories and clearly communicate ideas as the layout progresses.
- You will be a mentor to other design staff to ensure the highest level of design work.
- You will be comfortable attending and directing photo shoots when necessary.
- You will conceive, provide art-direction to, and hire illustrators.
- You will initiate, collaborate, and contribute to the environment of the creative staff in a positive way.
- And you will be involved in all phases of the design from concept to final production

Requirements:
- 5+ years magazine design experience
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to meet deadlines with completed work
- Ability to think effectively with creativity under pressure
- Ability to multi-task, manage tight deadlines, and achieve quick turnarounds
- Possess strong organizational skills, with mindfulness of team needs
- Expert knowledge of InDesign and Adobe CS5
- Expert knowledge of print production, including color-retouching/reviewing,
and the ability to expertly produce files for offset printing and digital media
- Passion Your passions for modern design and architecture are a definite bonus
- Enthusiasm for your team, a good sense of humor, and the desire to push yourself are absolutely essential!
