PATTERN PULP

Styling Inspiration & Haute Couture

April 11th, 2012

After reviewing editorial and runway shows I get really inspired and find myself throwing together outfits I would normally never pair. I end up mixing patterns, colors and fabrics, it’s pretty amazing what a little inspiration will do.

When it comes to haute couture, there are so many ways to make it accessible. That said, I think it’s necessary to find your initial inspiration from the impractical side of fashion. I recently took an online stroll through past runway shows and funky magazine spreads to review the colors, textures, shapes and fabrics that were used. As impractical as some of it may be, there’s no denying the creativity it takes to throw such masterpieces together.

Here we have Alexander McQueen for FW2010, Jean Paul Gaultier for SS2012 and a beautiful Flare Magazine spread from April 2012.
