PATTERN PULP

Seattle: Pixel Pusher

Event Date: 9 - 7, 2011

As our modern life becomes increasingly indebted and attached to the digital world, how is our perception of the natural environment changed? Painter Tyson Anthony Roberts sees it as his duty to explore and document the ways in which our environment and ecosystems alter through time and he does so in his latest show Pixel Pushers. The artist describes the thought processes beyond his striking works:

“In my work, elements of abstract layering, color theory and spontaneity are merged to form rural and urban scenes that appear to be in constant transition, taking the viewer from what was to what may be. It is through this idea of continual movement that my paintings suggest the places we know are always changing, whether we are ready for them to or not…”

It is interesting to look at his paintings as colors dart about suggesting the movement of life and an almost old-school video game sensibility and imagine what scenes of  our ever-quickening life they obscure. For more info, click here & here.
