Mermaid Beach: Homage to Frida

Through July 2, Australia’s 19 Karen Gallery has been transformed into a living, breathing Mexican carnival in celebration of the life, death, and spirit of the inspirational artist Frida Kahlo. Multiple works by 25 of the gallery’s emerging artists will display diverse and varied pieces as each artist uses their signature style to unravel and illuminate Frida’s vibrant and vulnerable art, her strong and humble character, and the larger-than-life legend she has left behind. The variety of work is broad and striking with an adapted range from literal to interpretive. For more info, click here.

More this way...

I was there for opening night, enthrauled by the exhibition and the responce of the guests to dress in character. Our hostess and staff setting the mood all helped along by the tequila sunrises. Can’t wait to get my own purchase home, although I maybe a little disapointed at breaking up the family.
cheers Joan
