Fort Collins: Strange Beauty

Event Date: 30 - 21, 2010

We’ve all been told that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, a thought that rings true when it comes to art. To one person, something can be the zenith of beauty; to another, the high point of hideous. When you throw the concept of “strange” – something that is curious, unfamiliar, atypical, eccentric, uncomfortable and even perplexing, into the realm of beauty, as the curators of The Center for Fine Art Photography’s exhibit “Strange Beauty” have done, you’re confronted with both an obvious contradiction and the natural law of beauty. The exhibit presents a spectrum of photographs ranging from San Francisco’s urbanscape constructed from Jello to unexpected representations of gender and the body resulting in a a beautifully strange collection.
