PATTERN PULP

Culver City: Rhythmic Nonsense

Event Date: 13 - 30, 2011

We’re pretty jazzed about artist David Cooley’s mixed media paintings. How could we not, when so much of his primary inspiration comes from textiles and patterns?

Vintage fabrics serve as the canvas, the pattern from which Cooley proceeds to play. He coats the ‘canvas’ in resin to achieve a mirror like shine and once dry, he starts work on the 3D paint ‘spikes’ that characterize his work.

This process is intricate and time consuming and is followed by hand painted elements and spray painted segments. Stunning if you ask us. Click here for more info.

Thinkspace: 6009 Washington Blvd. Culver City, CA. 90232
