Last week I caught up with an old friend, a Creative Director I worked for years back. She suggested we do a walking art meeting which sounded fantastic- so much better than sitting at an office or cafe.
I’ve been in and out of the city a lot over the past few months dealing with some personal family-related issues and haven’t had a chance to get out much (other than to the market and one show during Fashion Week) so seeing an exhibit, catching up on life and talking about work sounded fabulous.
We visited George Steinmetz‘s Desert Air exhibit at the World Financial Center Plaza. It was phenomenal. Here are a few snapshots from the show- which I went crazy over. Look at the patterns! Nature always does it best.
The photos are the product of a fifteen year project where Steinmetz traveled the world, documenting hyper arid regions. Through exploring these landscapes, he inadvertently discovered the highly developed strategies that allow man, vegetation, and wildlife to endure on the outer limits of survival. To see the full collection, visit the show or pick up George’s latest book, Desert Air.
